Arab Parliament Welcomes Outcomes of Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace

Cairo, Oct. 13 (Petra) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace, which witnessed the signing of the Gaza Ceasefire Agreement, describing it as a summit that "restored hope" for ending Gaza’s ongoing tragedy.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi said the agreement represents a historic milestone on the path to ending the war, achieving peace, and halting the suffering of the Palestinian people that has persisted for two years, closing a painful chapter in human history.
He praised Egypt’s pivotal role, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in hosting and sponsoring the summit and leading the intensive political and diplomatic efforts that culminated in the agreement.
Al-Yamahi emphasized that Egypt has always been and remains at the forefront of nations supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in regional and international forums.
He also commended the efforts made by the United States, under President Donald Trump’s leadership, in contributing to the success of the agreement and supporting regional initiatives aimed at achieving the ceasefire and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to Gaza without restrictions, and he acknowledged the active roles of Qatar, Turkiye, and other leaders who took part in the summit.
The Arab Parliament Speaker said the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace stands as a turning point in international efforts to end the war in Gaza a living model of Arab and international cooperation to achieve security and stability in the region and a genuine beginning toward ending a prolonged humanitarian catastrophe.
He urged the international community to build on the agreement, ensure its implementation, support Gaza’s reconstruction, and enable the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities in administering the Gaza Strip, paving the way for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
